Dextran Test Set

 High amounts of dextran in sugarcane products causes processing problems in sugarcane factories and refineries including false high polarimetric sucrose content, viscosity issues, slow crystallization rates and elongated crystals.  The concentration of dextran in the juices and syrups can reflect the severity of the above problems.  Early detection of dextran entry into the factory or refinery will allow for necessary process changes.  The Dextran Test Kit will allow processors to evaluate the use of dextranase in the factory to break down high molecular weight dextran which causes the greatest processing problems including elevated viscosities.
